Why is your tire pressure light on?

We here at Crosstown Chrysler Jeep Dodge understand the importance of understanding the various components of your vehicle. When your tire pressure lights turn on, what does it mean? Our team is here to help with some tips on what you can do.

In most vehicles, there will be a tire pressure sensor located in each of the tires. Each sensor is connected to your car's computer to keep track of the air pressure in each tire. When one of the tires fall below the minimum tire pressure, your car's computer will let you know with a warning light.

Low tire pressure can be caused by a wide range of conditions. Cold weather can cause the PSI to drop about 1 PSI per 10 degrees. On the other end, tires can become overinflated during the summer. When your TPMS light comes on, you should check the tire pressure to help keep your car on the road.
